Went to Meramec Caverns and Meramec State Park in Missouri this past weekend with my son. The guided tour of the Caverns didn’t allow for near enough time to take pictures in certain areas, but it sure was pretty. Enjoying a splendid day with my son, I quickly caved to his request to go on the Meramec River boat tour just across the lot from the caverns entrance. Blessed further in being the only two passengers it allowed the Captain freedom of giving my son a turn at the helm. Talk about elated. (I was not allowed to post any pictures of that. You know. That teen thing.) The park followed.

Such a beautiful place!
It is. Glad I could share snippets with you.
great posting…:-)))
Thank you. 🙂
no matter, informative blog, nice owner…
Thank you for the post — I was there when I was about 12 with cousins I haven’t seen in years and years…. pictures bring back such lovely memories.
Glad they brought some reminiscent smiles to your heart.
This brought back memories of going there when I was a kid living in Missouri.
I’ve lived in the area (Southern Illinois) for most of my life and this was the first time there. 🙂
Thank you for liking “Balanced Rocks.” Fantastic nature photos! 🙂 I especially like the shots of Meramec Caverns. The rock formations inside the caverns have an interesting surreal quality about them.

What a beautiful place! Those caverns are awesome! I grew up visiting the Linville Caverns and I knew from an early age the difference between a Stalactite and a Stalagmite. 🙂 Lovely post!
It was very beautiful. Sad I couldn’t linger to take more pictures in certain areas. I imagine all the people before electricity and light wondering in the dark and the beauty that was missed.
Notes of interest: Jessie James used these caverns as a hideout. Also, there is a section that was used in the movie of Tom Sawyer, when Tom and Becky are on the ‘high cliff’ as well as some Lassie show airings.
That is cool times ten! ❤ Thanks for that tidbit!
Wow! Terrific set!
Thanks! 🙂
